Designed to be short and enjoyable, they are perfect for a setting which is looking for an introduction, refresher session or simply some inspiration for a topic. These easy-learning courses are all short and highly interactive, containing video presentations, practical steps and helpful downloads. At the end of each course you will receive a certificate of completion upon finishing a self-assessment quiz. The user-friendly magazine format makes learning easy and enjoyable!

Learn at your own pace - Every course contains text, video, photos, and a test at the end to appeal to a wide variety of learning styles. You are able to revisit the content as much as you want over a 6 week period to achieve a greater understanding of the content.
Access them wherever and whenever you want - Anybody can access one of our courses from any location, saving you the time, effort and coordination that goes into organising a training day.
Save time- although each course contains significant content they only last around 1 hour each. This short time frame lets a busy practitioner complete a course without detracting from their daily work.
Stretch your budget- each online course is £20 / US$30 / AUS$40 / NZ$40 per person. Contact us if you would like to access multiple courses as bulk pricing is available.

All our easy-learning units are intended for use on a personal basis, however more and more settings are now using them on a daily basis to inspire their staff. As such we now offer a discount for any setting or person who wishes to purchase 5 or more online courses at once. We can also offer settings longer access than the standard 6 access period. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements with us.

Bespoke units:
If you love our online courses and would like to use them more widely in your setting we can create a bespoke version for you. If this is something you are interested in, either for a special event or for CPD throughout the year, please get in touch and we can explore different options with you.

Hardware requirements:
All courses are hosted on a 3rd party website which has been designed to work across a whole range of devices including desktop computers, tablets, laptops, mobile phones, and more. The software will sense the device that you are using and will change its display to suit you. As with all software, it does occasionally have glitches and bugs. If you experience any problems please let us know as soon as possible and we'll try our hardest to fix it for you.

Firewalls:
If you are trying to access one of our courses from a council, corporate or local government computer then unfortunately it’s not inconceivable that it will be running ‘firewall’ software that won’t let you connect to the external website where we host the courses. If you think this might be the problem then please let us know and we’ll do what we can to help.

Have your own idea for a course?
If you like our courses and think that you’ve got a really good idea for a new one, or if there’s a subject you’d really like to see included, then please let us know and we’ll see if we can make it happen!

Risk It

Risk It

An exploration of the benefits of risk in learning in Early Years

Risk It is a training course to support practitioners in creating a positive learning environment that enables kinaesthetic children to thrive.

Research has shown that the well being and involvement of children increases with the introduction of creative, risky and challenging opportunities.

In this course we will demonstrate how you can support children to be self risk assessors who are resilient and thoughtful about their own personal safety, and who can make choices about what risks to take.

We will give you the tools to balance the risk and the benefit of an activity and where necessary, create procedures so that a more balanced approach can be taken to risk.

We'll share ideas for creating rich learning environments that are based on exploration and risk to enhance the well being and involvement of your children.

The course lasts approximately 1 Hour.

Floorbooks

What is a Floorbook?

This inspirational training course examines the place of consultation in education and how it can impact upon the planning process.

Floorbooks are blank books where we can record children's voices and their ideas to use in our planning. Group writing in a Floorbook allows shared thinking as children recall each others ideas and record them through writing, diagrams and photographs. This child centred approach records the evidence of the process of play and the learning that comes from it.

Claire Warden created "Talking and Thinking" Floorbooks to encourage thinking skills through talking together in a group so that children are consulted and influence the learning taking place.

  • Learn how to use big books to consult children in the planning process.
  • Ideas on how to encourage sharing of knowledge and communication techniques.
  • Stratgies that support adults to listen to children's ideas.
  • Identify action points to increase the participation of children in planning.
  • Introduce a range of consultation techniques which promote the use of children’s ideas in developing a planning framework linked to the curriculum.
